Rewa’s Village Outdoor Museum

Step back in time when you visit Rewa’s Village, a recreation of an 18th Century Maori fishing village (kainga). Built using all native materials, the village features a marae, a chief’s house (whare), weapons store, a raised food store (pataka), a fishing canoe, bird snare, hangi pit for cooking, genuine historic waka (canoes) and much more.

The native plant garden notes Maori usage for food, medicine, clothing and housing.

You are guided around the village by informative displays on each building. There is a 12 minute audio-visual display to immerse you in the history of the area and many fascinating artefacts to see.

Walk from Kerikeri Basin to Rewa’s village or drive via the Bypass off Kerikeri Rd.
